Twin Screw Application and Design–SPE Carolinas Section

When: Tuesday, April 4, 2023 11:00 AM EDT - 12:00 PM EDT

Where: The Polymers Center of Excellence, 8900 Research Dr., Charlotte, NC 28262

We ask a lot of our compounding equipment--take a base polymer, melt but not degrade it, combine it with various ingredients, distribute those additives and disperse them, then discharge the mixture uniformly through a die so that it can be cut into uniform pellets. Join Chris Tucker from NFM Welding Engineers as he discusses the rate limits, screw and barrel design, power, speed, and reliability of extruder design.

Well-known as an expert in the design, application, and troubleshooting of twin screw extruders, Chris Tucker has been the Director of Process Engineering for NFM Welding Engineers for over twenty years. He has published several papers and taught numerous seminars on mixing in twin screw extruders at the University of Akron and also at the University of Wisconsin. He has served on the SPE Extrusion Division Board and holds two patents.
