Latest Equipment Promises Processors Increased Throughput, Savings, Quality

Many manufacturers of primary processing equipment took advantage of the vast NPE2009 tradeshow in June to introduce new machinery to the global plastics industry. Injection presses turned out thousands of plastic parts in the halls of McCormick Place in Chicago, demonstrating new technologies and innovations that increase throughput, conserve energy, improve part quality, and reduce waste. Plastics Engineering takes a look at the latest machinery for injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, and thermoforming.

NPE Exhibitors Tout Sustainability
A good way to describe last June's NPE2009 might the "the big show with a small footprint." The overriding theme for most exhibitors at NPE was sustainability, as demonstrated by the innovations in all market sectors that reduce the cost and use of resources in product development, manufacturing, and disposal—in other words, decreasing the size of the "carbon footprint."
