SPE Announces New Benefits for Members

The Society of Plastics Engineers is pleased to announce that it will introduce several new technical benefits for its members by year’s end.
The first is an online technical resource providing weekly feeds of technical articles. This new service is called SPE Plastics Research Online (SPE PRO); details recent breakthroughs in research and development. SPE is partnering with Wiley Publishers and Form and Content Media on this new service. An online demonstration of SPE PRO can be seen at SPE’s Booth at NPE (West Hall, W121038)

SPE is likewise pleased to announce its new Online Plastics Encyclopedia. This program has been two years in development and will allow SPE members and the public to search all the latest U.S. patents and journal articles on hundreds of different topics. The encyclopedia is an online knowledge sharing site where SPE members can interact to discuss the latest technical information on polymer science and new plastics technologies. A demonstration of this new service is also available at SPE’s booth at NPE.

SPE’s Online Technical Library, an extensive database of technical papers presented at past conferences including ANTEC, will undergo some changes including enhanced navigation and search capabilities. A new web portal will provide access to archives of Plastics Engineering articles and additional technical information.

Finally, SPE has expanded its partnership with Wiley Interscience to redesign a new website for Plastics Engineering magazine – SPE’s flagship publication. Access to SPE’s online technical library, the new encyclopedia, and archived copies of articles produced by SPE PRO will all be available from the new site.

“SPE is committed to bringing new technical content and benefits to its membership, even in this difficult economic climate,” says Susan Oderwald, SPE’s Executive Director. “SPE recognizes that to attract and retain a more globally and generationally diverse membership, we must continue to provide leading technical content in ways that are easily accessed online.”
