SPE Announces Call for Papers and New Tradeshow Partner for ANTEC® 2010 in Orlando
The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) will begin accepting submissions of abstracts and papers for SPE-ANTEC® 2010 Conference on July 1, 2009. SPE-ANTEC® 2010 will take place in Orlando, Florida, at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort and Convention Center from May 16 to 20.
Plastics-industry professionals who submit papers to ANTEC® 2010 have a choice between two tracks. The technical track includes more traditional ANTEC® papers—those describing the new technologies and techniques being developed today in the plastics industry. The commercial track is for papers that discuss real-world (or commercial) applications of these new technologies and techniques, and can be similar to case studies.
“In the past two years since we introduced separate tracks, we’ve seen terrific growth in commercial paper submissions,” explains Donna Davis, SPE Past President and ANTEC® 2010 Technical Program Chair. “While technical papers are the essence of what ANTEC® is all about and are extremely valuable, the number of commercial paper submissions doubled in 2009. We expect to build on that progress and to continue to engage the industry by adding even more of these contributions to next year’s technical program.”
The abstract submission deadline is September 4, 2009, and the paper submission deadline will follow on November 13, 2009. Please note: An abstract is not required in order to submit a paper.
The entire submission and review process is conducted online. To submit an abstract or paper by the deadlines, please do so via the following website: www.antec.ws.
SPE has also announced a new tradeshow partner for ANTEC® 2010: Plastics Engineering magazine, SPE’s own publication, now managed by Wiley Publishers. “SPE’s growing partnership with Wiley in the publishing arena made them the obvious choice to sell and manage the ANTEC® 2010 Exhibition,” notes Susan Oderwald, SPE’s Executive Director. “Wiley’s reputation and expanding reach into the plastics industry and vertical markets aligns with our goals to make next year’s ANTEC® a must for global plastics professionals seeking the latest advances and solutions via presentations and contacts made on the tradeshow floor.”
